New form a landslide winner with voters
In past elections, the county clerk’s office sent registered voters the same simple one-color mailer it had sent for years to impart basic election information. This year, in light of new procedural rules and evolving demographics, our client asked us for creative ideas to help explain the changes to the community and maximize voter comprehension and participation. In addition, they wanted to improve absentee and mail-in voter rates.
We recommended a complete overhaul of the election mailer, redesigning it to include integrating 10 new variable-data fields to increase personalization and creating a new mailing list, which we merged, purged and customized from prior voting rosters. We also added panels to the mailer to accommodate new information and refreshed font treatments to simplify readability and navigation.
All of our in-house services―graphic design, list management, data handling and mail sorting in-house—paid off for the client. Our contact at the county expressed thanks and satisfaction with the results, which included a 382% increase in absentee voting, a 277% boost in mail-in votes, and a jump in total voter turnout of nearly 36%.
