Graphics and Signs: a victory for high school athletics
The head coach of a high school football program wanted to enhance the spirit and tradition of the program and motivate the athletes. The school facility was old and outdated and the coach wanted to find a way to make it more modern and appealing to the current generation of students. The football locker room had drab concrete walls and old deteriorating signage, which needed to be replaced. While new paint could have helped update the look of the locker room, the whole environment needed more than that to meet the coach’s goal of improving team spirit. The school had a history of having one of the best football programs in the area, but over the years it was losing the enthusiasm and team spirit once embodied by the students.
After viewing the entire space and measuring several areas, we knew the perfect solution for this school was large visual graphics of the football team throughout the locker room and the hallway leading into it. Working with the school, we selected several photographs that would be turned into life-size vinyl wall graphics on the concrete cinderblock walls. A specific type of vinyl material was used for the cinderblock walls to make it look like they were painted and not covered. We also added championship banner headers throughout the locker room. Other areas were decorated with hard plastic signs and inspiring quotations to motivate the team.
The result was a complete transformation in the look and feel of the locker room. The head coach was delighted with the results and mentioned that the student athletes were excited about the improvements. Attitudes were improving, team spirit was elevated, and now the school principal is considering similar signage projects in other areas of the school. What most impressed the head coach from the beginning was the depth of services we offered, which included consultation, design concept, design fulfillment, printing and professional installation.
